Happy Birthday Harvey!
We celebrated Harvey Drdul’s 75th at our Sunrisers Toastmasters meeting. Harvey is a legend in the toastmaster world and we are very proud to have him as a part of our club. In 2007 Harvey received the Toastmasters International Presidential Citation Award at the International Conference. He is now in his 40th year as an active Toastmaster and belongs to 5 Clubs in Nanaimo.
His Speech was titled “The 50’s in my Life”. Harvey has plans to continue to live the full and vibrate life he is living and to enjoy every moment for another 75 years.
You are a great role model for all of us. Thanks Harvey!
Update: This is what Harvey’s 100th Birthday will look like. Hope the smoke alarms don’t go off. 
Ask anyone after they have gone through their first speech contest experience and they will tell you that what they learned going through the process was invaluable. Most will admit, that going through the speech contest process caused some adrenaline rushes, but gave them a whole new confidence and experience level. Some of the speech contest participats have an eye to delivering their speeches outside of Toastmasters, to service clubs, conventions and other meeting events. Those wanting more speaking opportunities should check speakers bureaus like www.locatespeakers.com if they are wanting to expand their speaking audiences. If you want to give your speaking path a quick boost, enter a speech contest and watch yourself grow.
Sunrisers Toastmasters will be having their Humorous and Table Topics speech contest on October 3rd.
Mid-Island Advanced contest date is October 1st.

You hear this a lot. I don’t really think this is the case though. Can you imagine if it was? I can picture in my mind how TV and Movies would be in this was true.

The Sunrisers Spring 2008 Party was held on June 7th and a great time was had by all. Many thanks to Brian and Joan for hosting the party and the garage sale we had earlier in the day. The entertainment was outstanding, Mama’s Kitchen played for us, the Nanaimo Storytellers told a story and I even gave a speech.

Place: 2765 Elk Street in Departure Bay. (2 blocks up from Amrikos Restaurant off Departure Bay Road)
